About peter reader
Having started out as a full time GP for 12 years, followed by 10 years in senior medical management as a medical director, garden design is Peter Reader’s second career, but one that allows him to follow his passion for horticulture and design. For a number of years he talked to friends of being a frustrated garden designer and in 2011 decided it was time to take the plunge. He studied for the Diploma in Garden Design at the prestigious KLC School of Design and passed with Distinction.
“I have always been drawn by the beauty of the countryside and by the ability of nature to match and balance colour and texture; something I am always keen to emulate in my designs and planting. Coming from a family who love walking, I have spent many hours in the countryside keenly observing plants in their natural habitats: how they work together and how they change with the light and the seasons. This doesn't mean my designing is limited to naturalistic landscapes; I enjoy a variety of styles from the formal to the relaxed. I believe every space has its own unique atmosphere and as the designer it is my job to work with clients to deliver the garden they desire in a way that delivers the space’s full potential.”
